Wait, is today the end of lock down? Are we supposed to be back doing hair and make up and wearing proper clothes again? Can people stop by unannounced? Would you actually recognise me in the street with curly hair and no make up?! Turns out after 9 weeks of waiting, I’m not actually ready, how does Monday always sneak up on you… in fact how has June(!) sneak up on me?

If you are doing a photoshoot (doesn’t matter if it’s DIY or “real”), you should ideally come away with enough film and still image for a BTS video, a real promo video, bite size social media video snippets and the actual images for use across your marketing. Make the most of a situation, squeeze it for everything, you have done the hard work of pulling it all together!

This applies to just about everything you do in your business, document what you are doing, as well as showing the final outcome, and you will never run out of content. Great way to show a snippet of the people behinds the brands too! Now what BTS could you film next for your business?

This is a tiny snippet from a recent @gaiababynursery shoot (lovely local business), and it’s the brilliant @yvonneaucottmakeupartist doing make up.

“Have you told Mor what we did?” these were th

“Have you told Mor what we did?” these were the words I heard as I left the kitchen Sunday evening, to go and run the boy’s bath. I still don’t know what they were referring to, but I’m sure I will find out. And I feel it will be along the same lines of finding S’s fringe on the floor, next to a pair of scissors, yet he absolutely denies any knowledge.
It will be like when S appeared the other day with his hands and face strangely smothered in black, declaring he has no idea how it happened, and later discovering that my eye liner has disappeared, and he then goes to find the missing eye liner stashed away in the spare room.
It will be like the missing part of my tripod, which S most definitely DID NOT touch ever, yet he strangely immediately went to find it under the wardrobe in the office (the obvious place to look for anything, clearly!)… Anyone else feel the conspiracies are getting out of hand? Where do kids get that ability to point blank refuse knowledge regardless of the evidence against them?
They are absolutely ganging up on me! Anyway, I hope you had a lovely long weekend, maybe you are treating this week as half term?

What’s your big lock down project? Ours have been the new greenhouse (been on the cards for years)! I promise not to post too many greenhouse pictures, but it is a little bit exciting to see bits of green happening. We were late this year, but next year we will be ready. Ultimately we haven’t got a clue what we are doing, so have you got any tips, apart from “don’t do it, it’s a lot of work” ;) Enjoy the bank holiday! Take pictures ;) . . .

@holistic_hypnobirth_motherhood and I did this lovely interview for her post natal group recently, all about ideas for using keep sake films to consciously shape their memories. It isn’t easy for those new mums at home in lock down with a baby and a toddler, I really do feel for them!
I have had confirmation this week that I will be doing a course for the MIMS mums on this topic, and I am just delighted to be able to give a tiny little bit back again to this amazing group!
I wish of all my heart I had know about creating keep sake films when our boys were little, and would really recommend it to anyone with little ones – I know it’s a challenging time, but make sure you document it, for you and for your kids!

Help please? What 3 words would you use to describe my work? So last night this happened! I didn’t see any of this coming whatsoever, so feels a bit unreal. I won not just “Children’s photographer of the year” but also over all “Photographer of the year” in the Master Photographers Association Regional Awards - crazy! Interestingly I have been doing some thinking around my creative style, and did a course on this yesterday, so I’m really interested in how people perceive my work/style/feel, so please do pitch in! What kind of work do you mainly associate with me? . . .

Could you re-purpose your images? Sometimes you can bring new life to an old image by using it in a layout. Imagine if this was for an add or lead magnet for an e-book, how much more perceived value and credibility has it got like this, compared to just a normal picture with text on it?
This could work for any kind of pdfs, workbooks, media kits, menus, planners, printables, pricelists, guides, brochures etc. You will get the perceived value of a high end brochure without the cost of printing anything ;) Would this work for your business? Needless to say this example is from a previous shoot with the fabulous @nickymassonglobal . . .
